Greetings from sunny Santa Barbara!
The ELS Language Center located in Santa Barbara is happy to announce that the center has a new Center Director, Mr. Michael Larson. Michael studied liberal arts at the University of Central Oklahoma, and then earned his MBA from Oklahoma City University. He joined ELS in 2007 and has served as Center Director at ELS/Oklahoma City and at ELS/Shanghai. His hobbies include kayaking, running on the beach, and hiking Santa Barbara’s lush forests and mountains. Michael enjoys introducing students to Santa Barbara and the city’s arts, outdoor activities and social clubs.

Die offizielle australische Fremdenverkehrszentrale Tourism Australia hat eine Info-Broschüre aufgelegt, die sich speziell an junge Australien-Reisende wendet und mit allen möglichen Tipps und Infos zur Reiseplanung bzw. Planung des Aufenthaltes vor Ort aufwartet. Es gibt auch eine Sektion zum wichtigen Thema “working holiday”.

get over: get to the other side.

get over: recover from something, feel better after having a sickness or problem

This month’s cartoon looks at the double meaning of the word rash.
rash (noun): a skin problem that results in a lot of small red spots on the skin. Rashes are often caused by allergies. “She got a rash on her arms after touching the cat. She must be allergic to them.”
rash (adjective): doing something careless or unwise, without thought for what might happen or result.
“Deciding to get married two weeks after they first met was a rash decision.”
